David McIntyre - Finalist Biography

David McIntyre

Circleville Police Department School Resource officer David McIntyre has been named one of five finalists for the 2019 United Way of Pickaway County Community Impact Award. Thomas was nominated and selected for the distinction as the result of a community-wide search launched this past June to identify and highlight members of the community going above and beyond to make Pickaway County a great place to live.

For David McIntyre, every day is in adventure. Some days it starts with watching out for student pedestrians crossing the street and some days it starts with an elementary presentation at career day. However, every Tuesday the routine is the same as he can be found at Foundations4Youth, a non-profit youth center on Mound Street in Circleville bringing youth development programming, games, and safe fun to area kids after the school bell rings.

McIntyre, in his 14th year in law enforcement overall, has been with the Circleville Police Department for 6 years and is currently in his 4th year as the school resource officer (SRO) at Circleville City Schools.

Youth outreach and public safety are a part of his DNA.

“Children are our future,” said McIntyre. “I know that phrase is overused but if we can't show them a better way, who is going too? Being from this area it is hard to imagine living, working and raising my children elsewhere. When an individual or family is in need, our local community is able to come together to assist them. I have seen it happen on many occasions.”

While always wanting to stay out of the limelight, McIntyre shows kids “a better way” as he calls it working with his team of police officers and volunteers to secure donations for food, clothing, games, and team and skill building activities at Foundations4Youth while also implementing safety programming during the school day at Circleville City Schools. In the school setting, McIntyre keeps students up-to-date on current trends in public safety, best-practice behavior in being safe online, and spending an occasional evening with students at a school athletics contest.

The United Way of Pickaway County is proud to name David McIntyre a 2019 Community Impact Award Finalist this fall. Williams, along with the four other finalists, will attend the 2019 United We Serve Gala at the Pavilion at Orchard View of Stoutsville where they will be honored for their commitment to community outreach. Additionally, one winner will also be named that night as the result of a community vote on our website at pickuw.org.
